Orcon Trialing Status Text Notification Service (STaN)

Orcon is proud to announce it is now trialing a new Status Text Notification (STaN) service, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and outstanding customer support.

Orcon customers can now send a simple text message with the word ‘STATUS’ from their mobile phone to 464, and STaN will reply with a message outlining the current status of the Orcon network. This means that if people are having difficulty getting online they can instantly determine if it is a problem on the network, or something that may need additional troubleshooting.

“We have had great feedback from customers about our comprehensive system status page on Orcon.net.nz, however the problem is that if a user can’t get online in the first place they have no way of finding out why without calling the helpdesk. STaN gives Orcon customers instant access to system status information, without having to talk to one of the helpdesk agents, even in the unlikely even of a major outage” says Orcon’s General Manager of Operations Scott Bartlett.

STaN is updated in real time between 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 8pm weekends, so Orcon customers can be sure that they are getting the latest system status information. Standard text message charges of 20c per message apply.

“We are really excited about the additional communication capabilities that new technologies can provide, and are working on several more innovative solutions. Look out for more announcements from us in the near future” concluded Bartlett.

STaN is currently active, and its trial period will last 3 months. If STaN proves popular during the trial it will become a permanent member of the Orcon support team.
