Brumby’s on the rise in New Zealand

Brumby’s on the rise in New Zealand with Warehouse Extra deal

May 26, 2006

Leading New Zealand and Australian bakery franchise operator Brumby’s Bakeries Ltd today announced it would launch a bakery within retailer The Warehouse’s first Extra store due to open at Sylvia Park in Auckland next month (June 8).

Brumby’s New Zealand Operations Manager Rachel Casley said she believed the concept of “a store within a store” was unique in Australasia with The Warehouse Extra offering an integrated non-food and food product range under one roof.

“Brumby’s hopes to expand this partnership with The Warehouse as the Extra stores are rolled out across New Zealand,” Ms Casley said.

“We currently have 21 franchisees across New Zealand and this partnership will further add to our share of the bakery sector.

“At present we have three bakeries at the entry to Warehouse stores and they have been trading exceptional well so this new partnership is very exciting and has immense potential.”

Brumby’s bakery will be situated inside the front entrance of The Warehouse Extra store at Sylvia Park.

“We do our baking on site daily, and our breads are all preservative free, so we fit well with The Warehouse Extra’s aim of offering customers the best fresh food all the time,” said Ms Casley,

“The bakery will also stock a range of pies, muffins, doughnuts and savouries.”

Brumby’s – which currently has 317 stores across New Zealand and Australia – would continue to investigate suitable opportunities in other countries.

“We have already signed a memorandum of understanding in the Middle East and in the past 12 months we have conducted pre-entry studies and held discussions with potential master franchisees in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Fiji, and South Africa,” Ms Casley said.

Brumby’s is listed on the Bendigo Stock Exchange.
