Power restored after snow storm
Update 12.30 p.m., Friday, 16 June 2006

Power has now been restored to almost all areas affected by snow in the Orion network area after lines crews made excellent progress today to repair damaged lines and equipment. The Orion network covers the area between the Waimakariri and Rakaia rivers from the Canterbury coast inland to Arthurs Pass.

‘We are confident that power has been restored in all main areas of our network, although some minor faults may not have been brought to our attention. We need to hear from anyone out there who is still experiencing problems with their power supply so we can work on getting power to them as soon as possible’, said Orion CEO, Roger Sutton.

“We appreciate the help and support of our community over the past few days, especially in remote farming regions where customers have been a big help to linesmen in their efforts to restore power.”

Orion is monitoring forecasts which indicate the possibility of more snow ahead.
