Complimentary ‘Wine Journeys’ At The Langham

Complimentary ‘Wine Journeys’ At The Langham

(Auckland – 17 July 2006) ----- The Langham Hotel, Auckland is offering hotel guests the opportunity to join sommelier de Gesincourt at the Langham for weekly complimentary wine tastings.

The tastings are to take place each Wednesday, commencing at 4.30pm in the Langham’s popular lobby bar The Winery.

A variety of local and international wines will be tasted each week.

Josselin de Gesincourt joined the Langham in December 2005 as the sommelier of the Hotel’s signature restaurant Partingtons.

“Wine is my passion and I want to share this passion whenever I can. I love to take people on a fantastic journey to find their perfect wine,” says Josselin.

Hailing from France, his first rather enviable task was to hand-select over 350 wines from both New Zealand and overseas for Partingtons wine list.

Unique with Josselin’s wine list is that he has broken varietals down into regions rather than by grape variety: “Respecting the notion of terroir, I have personally selected a collection of exceptional wines, focusing on smaller, regional vineyards from around the globe,” he says.

De Gesincourt is professionally trained and has also worked as a sommelier in Paris and Ireland. He is currently studying for his Master of Wine, the highest level of educational achievement for the wine industry, an achievement only 251 people worldwide can claim.

To join Josselin on one of his journeys make your way to The Winery. Reservations are not necessary but can be made by phoning 09 379 5132.
