PowerHouse not connected with British chain

July 18, 2006

Media Advisory

There have been several news items recently about problems within the British electrical goods chain Powerhouse, owned by Eric Watson's PRG (formerly Pacific Retail Group).

The British Powerhouse outlets are in no way connected to the Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse chain, operating in New Zealand and Australia.

The Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse stores have been established in Australia for 10 years. The first New Zealand store opened in Hamilton in 2004, with a second store opening in Manukau in April this year and more New Zealand stores in the pipeline.

Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse stores are trading successfully in New Zealand and Australia, and should not be confused with PRG's British Powerhouse chain.
