Hospitality Awards Raised the Bar
The inaugural 2006
Hospitality Association Awards are a celebration of the
contribution the hospitality industry makes to the people of
Otago says Otago Branch President, Lindsay McKinney.
The Awards highlight the value of a career in the hospitality industry and raise the bar in attracting top young people. In association with Crombie Lockwood we are delighted to announce that the awards will include a significant scholarship to a future industry leader. The award will enable the winner to study and advance their career through local tertiary institutions said Mr McKinney.
The hospitality industry is the leading employer in the South and our businesses already delivery outstanding accommodation, hospitality and entertainment he said. The awards dinner to be held on August 13th at the Lion Foundation Arena will showcase the best Otago has in Cafes, Bars, Restaurants and Entertainment venues. The Association believes that these are at least equal to the best in the world and entries in to date have all been of a very high standard.
The Award categories reward and recognise those entrepreneurial and visionary operators who put everything on the line to be great contributors and competitors in an exciting industry.
Categories include, Outstanding Service Provider, Hospitality Outlet of the Year, Best Development of the Year, Café of the Year, Outstanding Food Service Operator of the Year as well as recognising personal stars such as Chef of the Year, Barista of the Year, Person of the Year and Front of House Person of the Year.
Mr McKinney said he was delighted that Trent Wholesale Ltd who have had a vast involvement in the industry as a food and beverage supplier had chosen to sponsor the overall Awards and in particular the major category of Otago Hospitality Personality of the Year.
