Slingshot launches iTALK Voice Box to boost VoIP

MEDIA RELEASE

Slingshot launches iTALK Voice Box to boost nationwide residential VoIP service

iTALK Voice Box (ATA) to bring massive savings to broadband users by allowing calls over the internet using current home phone

New Zealand, Auckland – Tuesday 1 August, 2006. Slingshot, part of CallPlus New Zealand’s largest 100% kiwi owned full service telecommunications company, has announced iTALK Voice Box. A further initiative to enable all broadband users to start reaping the cost and time savings of VoIP technology, iTALK Voice Box allows Slingshot customers to make and receive VoIP calls using their regular home phone.

iTALK Voice Box simply connects the customers existing home phone to any broadband connection which means for the first time VoIP will be the primary voice service in the house.

Annette Presley Co-Founder of Slingshot said “The new iTALK service will have a mass market appeal as it enables customers to use the service as a primary line replacement. This is an exciting phase of our product roadmap and we can’t wait to offer this service to customers once LLU has started rolling out so customers can truly say goodbye to Telecom for good.”

“Given some of the quality constraints with Telecom’s UBS service, we are really excited by the VoIP Call Bypass feature with the Voice Box we have selected”, continues Presley. “This feature allows customers to select whether the calls are made using VoIP or through the traditional network by entering a pre-fix before making the call.”

The Voice Box includes a range of free smart phone features including Voicemail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and Do Not Disturb. Presley said that these services alone will save customers $10 a month.

The new iTALK Voice Box will be available online at www.italk.co.nz or through Dicksmith stores nationwide.
