Terrorist Arrests Won’t Affect Kiwi Travellers
House of Travel's retail director Brent Thomas is confident events in the past 12 hours will not dampen the Kiwi traveller's spirit.
"Terrorism is sadly very much part of the world we live in. Since the September 11 attacks people are now more resilient to the adherent risks of travelling. New Zealanders are very resilient and consequently we are not expecting a sudden rush of cancellations."
House of Travel worked late into the night running reports to identify passengers travelling into and out of UK airports in the next seven days. This accounted for just under 1,000 passengers but Mr Thomas said House of Travel had four times this number of customers holidaying or on business in the UK and Europe at this time.
"The report we ran identifies customers who potentially could be caught up in the delays and cancellations of flights, however this is the busiest time for tourism in the UK and there will be many Kiwis holidaying throughout the UK."
House of Travel had spoken to customers last night and the early hours of this morning, effected by the chaos and arranged alternative travel arrangements for customers trying to fly into the UK.
