Another South Island power record - 11 Aug 2006

A new peak electricity demand record was set yesterday for the South Island.

As System Operator, Transpower recorded a South Island peak demand of 2267 MW (megawatts) between 8.00 and 8.30 am yesterday (10th August).

Before this winter the South Island record was 2224 MW. Yesterday’s peak demand surpassed a series of new South Island records set in late June and early July.
