Update for Qantas passengers travelling to US
Update on duty free purchases for Qantas passengers travelling to the US from Auckland Airport
The Aviation Security Service and Qantas have advised Auckland Airport that security requirements for duty free purchases have been amended.
Passengers travelling on Qantas flights to the United States of America are now permitted to purchase all duty free items at the airport. Liquid and gel products (including liquor, cosmetics and perfume) will be delivered to passengers in the gate lounge after security screening.
This means Qantas passengers travelling to the United States of America will receive their duty free purchases of these products in the gate lounge prior to boarding. The retail outlets authorised to sell duty free products within the terminal are Regency Duty Free and DFS Galleria. Duty free sales will stop 90 minutes before departure.
Other security requirements implemented on Friday 11 August remain in place for all airlines with flights into and out of the United States of America. The additional security requirements also apply to passengers who may be travelling on to a United Kingdom airport.
Passengers still cannot carry liquids and gels on to the aircraft that are not purchased at duty free outlets at the airport. This includes beverages, shampoos, suntan lotions, creams, toothpastes, hair gels and other items of a similar consistency.
Excluded from the measures are baby formula or juice if a baby or small child is travelling, prescription medicine with a name that matches the name on the passenger's ticket and insulin and other non-prescription medicines. Passenger footwear is now not being screened prior to departure.
