- 12-month readership results
-
The latest Nielsen Media Research July 2005 - June 2006 figures show an excellent result for Fairfax Magazines, with market leadership maintained in all title categories.
Commenting on the results, General Manager of Fairfax Magazines, Lynley Belton says:
“The readership results show our titles reflect the passions of New Zealanders, ranging from food and homes to gardening, boating and fishing, and we are proud that the latest figures recognise the support and stability of our loyal reader base.”
NZ House & Garden maintained readership at 639,000, a great achievement in the very competitive home category. Editorial Director Michal McKay says: “We are thrilled to have maintained this solid readership and the coming months will see us continuing to add value to our readers’ purchase and reward their loyalty with a great read.”
The growth of NZ Gardener readership, measured at 213,000 compared to 211,000 in the previous period, is largely attributed to the impact of new editor, Lynda Hallinan.
TV Guide is the third most read weekly news-stand magazine with 790,000 readers, and remains the country’s biggest selling magazine.
The launch of a number of new titles in the food category during the last year is testament to the fact that New Zealanders love reading about food. The 364,000 Cuisine readers confirm its leading position in this dynamic category. Cuisine’s highly acclaimed website, www.cuisine.co.nz, is also the most visited food magazine website in New Zealand with over 33,500* unique visitors per month – 50% more than the next biggest food magazine site in New Zealand.
NZ Trucking, NZ Horse and Pony, Boating NZ, NZ Fishing News and NZ Autocar performed particularly well, with leaders in the category maintaining their position, and some titles demonstrating strong growth. NZ Trucking lifted readership by 20%, NZ Horse and Pony increased readership by 19%, and NZ Fishing News grew by 11%, recording 295,000 readers.
