Top Sites for August 2006 - Youth 17 Years and Under

New Zealand children and youth aged 6-17 years are becoming regular consumers of online media with almost half (49%) of them accessing the internet daily, according to Nielsen//NetRatings’ recent eGeneration Report 2006. The eGeneration Report also highlights that 49% of people in this age group living in broadband-enabled homes go online daily compared to 20% in dial-up homes.

Last month’s top site by proportion of New Zealand internet users aged 17 years and younger, crememagazine.co.nz, had 4,162 visitors in August, 50% of whom (2,081) were 17 or under.

The two top sites on this measure, crememagazine.co.nz and 247girl.co.nz, are both online magazine for young girls, having 83% and 87% female visitors respectively in August. According to the eGeneration report, magazine sites are most popular among children and youth aged 12+, 35.7% of whom go online to visit these sites compared to just 19% of children under 12.
