New Zealand Springs On the Aussies

New Zealand Springs On the Aussies

Spring has sprung, flowers are blooming – and the Aussies are coming!

A new Tourism New Zealand Spring Festival marketing campaign is set to encourage an influx of Australian tourists to regional New Zealand.

Highlighting food and wine, garden and arts events all over New Zealand, the Spring Festival is part of Tourism New Zealand’s new ‘What’s On’ campaign featuring Petra Bagust and Robbie Magisiva. The campaign gives Australians specific suggestions of what there is to do in New Zealand, focussing on the Spring Festival events. In August when ‘What’s On’ was launched, Australians became the top users of Tourism New Zealand’s website www.newzealand.com.

The Spring Festival takes some of New Zealand’s events, such as the World of WearableArt™ Awards, Toast Martinborough and the Taranaki Rhododendron & Garden Festival, and wraps them up into a campaign. It has been devised by Tourism New Zealand to give Australians more reasons to take the trip across the Tasman, to get them to come in the shoulder seasons for tourism, and to visit more regions of the country.

“Australians think that they know what there is to do in New Zealand, but are often not aware of the variety and quality of events on offer in our country,” says Tourism New Zealand Chief Executive George Hickton. “The Spring Festival packages up a variety of events in the pre-summer season as a ‘hook’ to inspire them to come over here, now!”
