Alliance sees Trade Me preferring
Visa
Auckland, 20 September 2006 – In an alliance of e-commerce heavyweights, global payment card leader Visa International today announced a new partnership with New Zealand’s hottest online marketplace Trade Me.
The co-marketing alliance between Trade Me and Visa will see both parties work together to maximise their place in the arena.
Visa International’s Country Manager for New Zealand, Iain Jamieson, believes this long-term partnership will open up new marketing opportunities for both companies.
“We are thrilled to be recognised by Trade Me as the premium payment card partner and that Trade Me prefers Visa. Between us we have more than three million New Zealand customers so this decision to come together presents some exciting opportunities for the future.”
Visa is the
leader globally in online payment transactions with sixty
per cent of all
e-commerce purchases taking place on a
Visa card.
Sam Morgan, General Manager of Trade Me, says as a fast growing company Trade Me is pleased to be working with a blue chip brand like Visa.
“We got a good feeling from the Visa people and their brand has a reputation for rock solid security that benefits our members.”
Visa and Trade Me’s alliance will include four online promotions being rolled out over the coming year to recognise and reward Trade Me’s 1.4 million members.
Starting today, Visa is giving Trade Me members the chance to win one of ten $1000 cash prizes when they use their Visa card to credit their account.
Visa has more than 1.8 million cards on issue in New Zealand and is accepted at more than 100,000 local merchant locations. Trade Me is New Zealand’s largest online marketplace with more than 40 million auctions taking place a year.
