Who’s a contender?
Who’s a contender?
The Government, the telcos, the analysts and the bicycle clubs have all had plenty to say about telecommunications this year - now it’s the user’s turn.
The two most hotly contended titles in this year’s TUANZ Innovation Awards – Carrier and ISP of the Year – are nominated and voted on by the thousands of registered members who belong to the Telecommunications Users Association of NZ. These include the managers of multinational corporations, large government departments and SMEs, as well as community leaders such as school principals and council executives.
The finalists are:
Telecommunications Carrier of the Year: CallPlus, Compass Communications, Telecom New Zealand, TelstraClear, Vodafone New Zealand, Woosh and WorldxChange.
ISP of the Year: Clear.net, ihug, Inspire.Net, Maxnet, Orcon Internet, Paradise.net, Slingshot, Xtra and Woosh.
“These two categories always create plenty of interest because it’s one of the few instances where the user gets a say,” says TUANZ CEO Ernie Newman. “After all the hype around the industry this year, it’ll be fascinating to see who actually delivered the best service to their customers.”
Other categories, judged by leading telecommunications specialists are: Initiative of the Year, Mobile Application of the Year, Education (Primary or Secondary) Award, Education (General) Award, Healthcare Award, Rural Award, Tourism Award, Local and Central Government Award, Commerce Award, Journalist of the Year. In addition the Technology Media of the Year Award is nominated and voted on by TUANZ members.
