NZ Monuments Turn Pink for Breast Cancer

Auckland’s Sky Tower will be the first monument in the world to light up pink to support the Global Illumination campaign for breast cancer in October.

From Sunday 1 October, eight cities around New Zealand will glow pink as part of the International Global Illumination Campaign promoting breast cancer awareness around the world. New Zealand’s monuments will join others in over 40 countries, including the Sydney Opera House, The Empire State Building in New York, The Panama Canal, Niagara Falls in Canada, Table Mountain in Cape Town, and The Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy.

The monuments turning pink on Sunday 1 October in New Zealand are:
- SKYCITY Auckland’s Sky Tower
- Calder & Lawson House of Travel – Hamilton
- SKYCITY Hamilton
- Rotorua’s City Focus Lights
- Gisborne’s Clock Tower
- Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre
- Canterbury Museum – Christchurch
- Christchurch Cathedral
- Christchurch Art Gallery
- Dunedin’s Municipal Chambers Clock Tower
- Invercargill’s Water Tower

Throughout October The New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation and its many supporters will continue to get key life-saving messages of early detection out to the public of New Zealand. The Foundation’s Pink Ribbon Day Street Appeal will take place on Friday 6 October.
