Rises to Food Writer Challenge
The search for top recipes by leading food writers in the Tegel Chicken Bacon Challenge has uncovered a range of inspiring, versatile and great tasting recipes perfect for summer eating.
Tamara Rubanowski, food writer and editor of Essentially Food magazine, won the category for unpublished work with her recipe for Chicken Bacon, Banana & Maple Tarte Tatin. Ann Boardman, who tests, co-develops and styles recipes for the popular Food In A Minute was awarded runner up for her Deep Dish Chicken Bacon and Mushroom Pizza.
Graham Hawkes of The Southland Times won the category for published work with his recipe for Sweet Corn, Celery and Chicken Bacon Chowder (Southland Times, 2 September, 2006). Runner up was awarded to Taste magazine contributor Tracey Sunderland who created a Chicken Loaf with a Crust of Semi Dried Tomato (Taste, October 2006).
Chief judge Alison Holst describes the winning Chicken Bacon, Banana & Maple Tarte Tatin as “interesting, innovative and easy!”
“Tegel received an impressive selection of entries from food writers around the country, each using Chicken Bacon in a unique way. These recipes will be great to use for summer meals – picnics, long brunches and alfresco dinners,” she says.
All four winning recipes are available online at www.tegel.co.nz/news, with other selected Chicken Bacon Challenge food writer recipes added in the coming months.
