Ihug : Early Changes Announced

Ihug and Vodafone today took its first steps together to bring better value and more choice for New Zealand consumers.

Ihug announced it will now offer a new ‘talk 0’ plan to its home-phone customers. The plan allows customers to make an unlimited number of calls to one designated Vodafone mobile number, for a flat-rate of $10 a month.

Calls are capped at one hour. Customers can add up to five talk 0 plans.

In addition, ihug is to drop the cost of the home phone service to $40 per month.

Ihug will tomorrow announce changes to its existing broadband plans. Three out of the four broadband plans offer higher data allowances than Xtra’s new broadband plans.

Mark Rushworth, CEO of ihug, says that these changes are a “fantastic move towards bringing the customer better choice and more options”.

“ihug and Vodafone are both challengers in the telecommunications market,” he says. “Now that we’ve combined our expertise in our respective markets, we’re able to offer New Zealanders a real alternative to Telecom for all their communications needs,” he says.

“This is great news for New Zealanders, and a sign of things to come.”
