Slingshot takes action on broadband plan pricing

Media Release

Slingshot takes action on broadband plan pricing in the market misleading the public

New range of broadband plans from Slingshot gives customers choice to customise plans according to their needs and budget

New Zealand, Auckland - Thursday 26 October, 2006 - Slingshot, part of CallPlus New Zealand's largest 100% kiwi owned full service telecommunications company, has announced its new range of broadband plans which unlike other internet providers are not been designed to mislead and confuse customers.

Mark Callander Marketing Manager for Slingshot states, "Other internet providers are blatantly misleading their customers by promoting $29.95 full speed broadband plans with low data caps and extremely high overage charges. What customers may be blindly unaware of is that the data limits on these plans can be chewed up within the first five minutes of the month - and it could leave them with monthly bills in the thousands!"

Slingshot's range of broadband plans has been designed to focus on specific customer needs that can range from price, data limits, speed or a bit of everything. While Slingshot has launched a $29.95 full speed plan with a 500Mb data allowance, customers have the choice to reduce the speed to 64kbps, which means they never pay more than $29.95 a month.

Callander continues, "No other internet provider has taken this initiative and put the customer needs first. The Commerce Commission has taken no action over this pricing debacle in the market to protect the consumer, so we have. We can only hope that the public takes the time to read the fine print of the other internet providers so they are fully aware of what they are getting themselves into."

Slingshot will continue offering customer's 256kbp and 2Mb speed options that offer value for money. For more information check out the plans online at www.slingshot.co.nz/broadband
