Ellerslie International Flower Show first big event for new Manurewa Interchange

Aucklanders using public transport to visit the Ellerslie International Flower Show from 15-19 November will benefit from the train-bus connection the new Manurewa Interchange offers as well as from using direct bus services to visit the Show.

Acting Chief Executive of the Auckland Regional Transport Authority, Elena Trout, says, “It’s the first time the new Interchange has been used for a big event. Selected trains meet scheduled buses to take people to the Show.

“ Manurewa Interchange is a working example of ARTA’s focus on developing the region’s public transport to better integrate bus, train and ferry to make it easier for Aucklanders to get around the region and leave their cars at home. Aucklanders can look forward to better public transport options and more interchanges opening around the region.

Ms Trout also highlighted direct bus services as another great value travel option for show-goers. The buses, departing from Auckland CBD (Britomart and Sky City), North Shore (Glenfield and Takapuna) and a regular service from Botany via Manukau City will take people to the Show entry gate at Everglades Drive.

Show-goers using train services should allow more travel time over the weekend and ensure they check the timetable with MAXX as a revised Southern and Eastern line timetable is operating on these days with a bus replacement service for a short section of journey between Westfield and Glen Innes. Weekend Show visitors travelling home to Eastern line stations will need to transfer at Westfield station. These changes are in place to allow essential track work by ONTRACK, the rail network provider, for the development of the new Sylvia Park train station.

About bus and train services to Ellerslie International Flower Show

Direct bus to the Show from the City – just $6 one-way or $10 return

Special Stagecoach service departing Britomart and Sky City then direct to the Botanic Gardens.

Direct bus to the Show from the North Shore – just $8 one-way or $13 return

Special Stagecoach service from the North Shore direct to the Botanic Gardens - you can catch the bus at Glenfield and Takapuna, as well as all stops along the route before the harbour bridge.

Botany / Manukau City bus to the Show – just $3 from Botany and $1.50 from Manukau city one-way

Regular scheduled Howick and Eastern Buses route 66 operating from Botany via Manukau City to the Botanic Gardens.

Train and connecting bus at Manurewa Interchange – a day rover pass $10 offers unlimited train travel for the day

Selected Southern and Eastern Line trains will allow connections with bus route 66 (free with a day rover pass) at Manurewa Interchange for a short trip up to the Botanic Gardens.

Please note that due to ONTRACK construction work on the Eastern Line, there will be a bus replacement service running from Glen Innes Station to Westfield Station. There may be some delays.
