Sailors and rum go way back - and sailors, rum, Tahiti and beautiful maidens have an even closer historical link (how many drunk sailors ended up missing the boat in Tahiti while 'berthed' with a gorgeous local lady back in the day?).

42 Below is so proud of new Tahiti Dark Rum that we wanted Kiwi sailors to get a chance to share in the pleasures their forefathers did - with some delicious rum delivered by the equally delicious Tahiti Dark Maidens.

Attached is a selection of shots from the Tahiti Dark Rum-For-Sailors Mission in Auckland Harbour last week - racing was forgotten as thirsty yachties made a beeline for the Tahiti Dark Thundercat and its bountiful cargo...

Tahiti Dark is the finest dark rum in the Southern Ocean. It is full-bodied, sensual and warm (much like our maidens), with a soft inviting aroma of seductive vanilla, the richness of burnt caramel and a hint of exotic tropical sunshine, limes and coconuts.

Tahiti Dark and Stormy - Fill a highball glass with ice and squeeze in 3 wedges of lime. Add 4 good dashes of bitters and 30ml Tahiti Dark, and top with ginger beer or ginger ale. Stir, serve, lie back and think back of Tahiti.
