Cannex releases credit card star ratings report

24 November 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Time to reshuffle cards, as credit spending soars

CANNEX releases credit card star ratings report today.

As the sound of credit cards being drawn from wallets reaches its deafening Christmas crescendo, consumers are being warned to avoid an unpleasant New Year hangover by using their credit card wisely and only using one that suits their spending behaviour.

In its latest credit card star ratings report, leading financial services research group, CANNEX, notes an overall increase in the number of cards now available to suit all four spender profiles: everyday, impulse, habitual and big spender.

“We’ve seen the number of credit cards awarded CANNEX five stars double over the past six months,” CANNEX finance analyst, Garfield Wright, said. “This is indicative of the competition in the marketplace, as lenders tout for new custom at the height of the spending season."

CANNEX predicts the $2.5 billion credit card spending record will be broken, as Kiwis flash the plastic both at home and abroad this December.
