Business-school partnerships encouraged

Business NZ today welcomed the launch of a dedicated website by the Ministry of Education aimed at building school-business partnerships.

"Schools and businesses both have much to gain by working closely together," Business NZ Chief Executive Phil O'Reilly said.

"Students can gain real life experience of work and understand the skills and knowledge they will need in the workforce. Teachers can work with the private sector to ensure that their classes remain up to date and relevant. And employers can help improve the confidence and employability of young people and generate positive connections with customers.

"There are already many innovative and exciting school-business partnerships in place across the country. But there is more that could be done and more that could be shared.

"We welcome the initiative that the Ministry of Education has taken to promote school-business links, and encourage businesses to get in touch with the Ministry through the Enterprise for Education website."
