TelstraClear transfers to single billing system

TelstraClear has completed a major project to improve customer services, transferring around 135,000 customers onto a single billing platform.

The project involved transferring customer details from predecessor company CLEAR’s Mega database to the Arbor billing system, where the majority of TelstraClear’s customer records are housed.

TelstraClear Chief Operating Officer Luigi Sorbello says the benefits of a single billing system are wide-reaching, including increased customer service levels, simplified operational processes and cost reductions.

“This project required the migration of around 190,000 residential and 45,000 business customers to the Arbor billing system. We completed the last Mega billing cycle in November, 15 years after the first bill was generated in 1991.”

“Put simply - it means we’re now better at customer services. We’re quicker at responding to billing enquiries, have more accurate information and there’s no more double-handling between billing systems. It’s also reduced the amount of staff training required.”

“Another benefit is that it increases our ability to act quickly in the market to bring out new products and services, at less cost,” he says.
