Mainfreight funds growth for Life Education Trust
Listed international transport company, Mainfreight, has become a national sponsor of Life Education Trust pledging $200,000 per year for a three year term allowing the popular health and life skills programme to grow to meet continuing community demand.
The sponsorship will allow the Trust to increase the number of mobile classrooms and educators who deliver positive health-based education to primary and intermediate aged children throughout New Zealand.
Mainfreight Managing Director, Don Braid, says the success and popularity of Life Education’s health education programmes were key to his company’s involvement.
“For 18 years Life Education has raised awareness of the health and potential in Kiwi kids by giving them the knowledge and skills to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
“We are delighted to be part of this and recognise the need for these skills to be available to more children, The Life Education Trust involvement complements our already well established Books in Homes programme” says Don Braid.
The sponsorship comes at a crucial time for Life Education, known to children throughout New Zealand by its popular mascot, Harold the giraffe.
Chief Executive Peter Cox says each year 200,000 primary and intermediate children hear the Life Education message from specialist educators in 39 distinctive, high-tech mobile classrooms.
“Our plans for growth will see a further five mobile classrooms within two years. Most of this growth is expected in the Auckland region.
“We are thrilled to have Mainfreight associated with Life Education Trust and we look forward to implementing the growth strategy their involvement has made possible,” says Mr Cox.
