Media Monitors Acquires Stake In Mediapeople NZ

Major transtasman media intelligence provider Media Monitors announced today that it has strengthened its New Zealand capabilities through the acquisition of a significant stake in MediaPeople NZ, an Auckland-based specialist in media targeting.

MediaPeople produces both printed and online media contacts directories in addition to online media release software tools in wide use throughout the country by the public relations industry.

MediaPeople first launched its printed directory in 1989, and has since refined the product and developed an interactive online version called MediaNZonline, which was released in 2004. The interactive version is constantly updated to provide the most up-to-date and reliable media contact information available in the New Zealand market.

Media Monitors' acquisition represents "a natural progression in the close relationship we have with MediaPeople," according to Media Monitors' New Zealand general manager Brendan Swale.

"MediaPeople is a New Zealand market leader in the provision of accurate and reliable media contact information to clients.

"This shareholding strengthens that partnership and our client offering. Through integration and co-location there will be a number of improvements and expansions to the products and services that both companies provide to our combined New Zealand client base," Mr Swale said.

MediaPeople NZ director David Reade said that the equity arrangement 'bolsters the transtasman capabilities of both businesses. News breaks, issues arise and stories need to be told, often without regards for physical geographic boundaries. The addition of the remainder of Oceania media which is imminent will further strengthen the product".

"By integrating and streamlining at an operational and strategic level, we are now able to offer a comprehensive suite of targeting, monitoring and analysis services across all print, broadcast and internet media in New Zealand, Australia and beyond" said Mr Reade.
