Fairfax Magazines titles have demonstrated
significant market strength with considerable increases in
readership for key publications during the past twelve
months, according to the latest Nielsen Readership Survey
results.
Cuisine readership increased by 3.6% to 377,000 compared to the mid year report, further reinforcing its leadership position within a highly competitive segment that has recently received a number of new entrants.
Home and lifestyle publication NZ House & Garden increased its readership by 3.9% to 664,000 compared to the previous release, and was the only title in its category to demonstrate growth during the period. The magazine’s continuing success is due to strong editorial direction, a comprehensive new online presence, as well as content integration through the TV show NZ House & Garden, which screened on TV ONE last year.
Lynda Hallinan’s appointment as editor in May 2006 continues to impact positively on NZ Gardener. The magazine maintains its position as market leader in the gardening category with an increase in readership of 2.4% to 216,000 year on year.
“The pleasing results across our magazine portfolio in particular is testament to the superior quality of our publications. The loyal readers of our broad stable of magazines continue to benefit from our vast experience in delivering the right mix of content,” said Fairfax Magazines General Manager Lynley Belton.
Other titles also continue to show positive growth and add to Fairfax Magazines’ leading position in magazine publishing. TV Guide – New Zealand’s largest selling magazine - increased in readership by 0.5% to 794,000 compared to the mid year report, while NZ Trucking experienced the greatest readership increase within the Fairfax Magazines stable; up 9.5% to 92,000 on the previous release and up 17.9% year on year.
