$6.1million worth of vehicles tested for 2007 AA Motoring Excellence Awards
8,663 kilometres and 336 hours later, the judging of all vehicles entered in this year’s AA Motoring Excellence Awards has been completed.
Special onsite security was required for the 87 vehicles worth $6.1 million during the five days of judging at Taupo’s MotorsportPark.
Stella Stocks, General Manager of AA Technical Services says “the judges’ job was made even more difficult this year because of the record number of vehicles nominated.”
“The judges used an electronic interactive scoring system to assess the cars. Each vehicle was assessed on a range of criteria including safety, performance, dynamics, practicality, design and value. Features such as load-space, access for car seats, driver and passenger comfort, accessories and ease of use of control panels were also compared.”
The most expensive car judged was the Porsche 911 GT3 valued at $270,000, while the most affordable car was the Mitsubishi i-car worth $17,990.
Ms Stocks says “the AA is now auditing the results prior to announcing the winners at a gala dinner in Aucklandon 9 March.”
The AA Motoring Excellence Awards aim to reward excellence amongst new vehicles and in areas of concern to motorists. The award categories are: Small Car, Compact Car, Medium 4 Cylinder Car, Medium/Large Car, Luxury Car, Executive Car, Performance/Sports Car, Crossover Car, Environmental, Safety, Customer Satisfaction, and Motoring Journalist. There will also be a Supreme Winner.
