AA Announces 2007 Motoring Excellence Awards for Small, Compact, and Medium Four Cylinder Cars
The winners of the first three 2007 AA Motoring Excellence Awards have just been announced:
• Fairfax Media
Small Car Class Award
• JEVIC NZ Ltd Compact Car Class
Award
• Repco New Zealand Medium 4 Cylinder Car Class
Award
Stella Stocks, General Manager of AA Technical Services, says the AA Motoring Excellence Awards aim to identify and reward excellence amongst new vehicles and in areas of interest to motorists. The Awards are being announced at a prestigious black tie dinner held in Auckland tonight.
The Fairfax Media Small Car Class Award went to the Suzuki Swift Sport.
Ms Stocks said the small vehicle category was a difficult one to judge as there is a need to balance vehicle space with style.
“The judges said the Suzuki Swift Sport had sparkling performance that meets in-your-face style, all at an affordable price. Overall a superb point and squirty city car.”
The JEVIC NZ Ltd Compact Car Class Award went to the Renault Scenic Phase II.
Ms Stocks said the Renault Scenic Phase II set a benchmark for compact cars.
“For seating comfort, and visibility for the kids in the back, this car is it. Although it was one of the more expensive cars in the compact class, the Renault Scenic Phase II proved itself to represent excellent value for money due to its sheer versatility.”
The Repco New Zealand Medium Four Cylinder Car Class Award went to the Skoda Octavia RS TDI Combi.
Ms Stocks said that if anyone needed reassuring whether the name ‘Skoda’ and ‘quality’ could go hand in hand, then this vehicle could convince any doubting Thomas.
“The judges called the Skoda Octavia RS TDI Combi a magnificent combination of torque, economy, load-space, ride and handling.”
The AA will announce the remaining 2007 Motoring Excellence Awards, including the AA Supreme Award for Motoring Excellence, later this evening.
