New Contract For Flotech
New
Zealand’s Flotech confirms their position in the global
biogas industry
Pioneering South Auckland based
engineered solutions company Flotech have confirmed their
place in the global commercialization of biogas following
their latest international deal for a biogas plant in
Japan.
Flotech, a New Zealand based engineered solutions company, has recently signed a contract with an existing partner Kobelco Eco-Solutions Co Ltd, to provide a new biogas plant in Japan, using their patented Greenlane technology.
Flotech originally engineered a smaller scale solution for Kobelco as a pilot plant, which once installed in Kobe city worked so well that early this year a request came for a new commercial sized plant with two units each of more than double the capacity of the pilot for delivery by this July.
Director of Compression Technology Steve Rowntree said, “This contract is further evidence that New Zealand companies can compete on the global stage. It’s great to get repeat business from a happy customer, and further strengthens the technology license agreement and partnership we have developed with Kobelco in the last few years. The biogas projects that we have delivered elsewhere in the world have led directly to a growing and repeating demand for our biogas technologies from forward thinking companies and governments looking to biogas as a sustainable alternative.”
Rowntree added, “The ‘Greenlane’ biogas system used for the Kobelco project is proven technology that not only produces clean fuel, but does so with an environmentally friendly and safe process: water scrubbing.”
Worldwide there is increasing recognition of the potential of biogas as an economically viable and realistic alternative to fossil fuels.
Biogas carries enormous benefits. It is considerably cleaner burning than fossil fuels and can be used in any CNG powered vehicle or machine. Biogas is a renewable fuel extracted from waste, making waste disposal a more efficient and commercially beneficial venture. Biogas also captures methane before it can become harmful to the environment and converts it to usable energy.
Flotech has been quietly forging an impressive global reputation as a provider of leading edge engineered solutions to the biogas, gas compression, and heat exchange industries. Having doubled in size over the last two years, Flotech is increasingly a highly successful New Zealand business on the world stage.
Rowntree added, “Flotech already has the technology to make biogas a viable commercial venture, and biogas itself is already a widely available renewable energy source. With many countries committing to ambitious fossil-fuel reduction targets, we are sure that demand for our services will continue to grow.”
