Hotly Contested Auction Sees New Rangiora Record
For Release: 13 March 2007
A two year old executive Rangiora home has set what is believed to be a new record price for residential property in this town just north of Christchurch. Selling ‘under the hammer’ at auction for $715,000, the property in Belmont Avenue was marketed by Carolyn Spark of Harcourts Rangiora and Mary Turnbull of Harcourts Papanui.
The property offered a number of features which appealed to a wide range of buyers. The generous 965sqm section, along with large living and four good sized bedrooms were complemented with a six car garage which attracted a lot of favourable comment during the open homes and marketing.
The generous sizing was further enhanced by quality chattels and décor throughout with purpose designed ‘indoor-outdoor flow’ which is increasingly sought-after by buyers living busy lives and seeking a relaxing ‘sanctuary’ within their homes.
With a wide mixture of potential buyers including local people, Christchurch and UK people enthusiastic about being able to purchase such a high quality home within an easy 25 minute drive to downtown Christchurch city, the property had high interest right from when the marketing began.
As a ‘life-long’ resident of Rangiora, Ms Spark noted that Rangiora was a “thriving township with huge building activity” finding strong favour from Christchurch buyers and others looking to enjoy a nice community and high quality amenities within a countryside setting but still within an easy city commute. High quality executive homes were increasingly becoming the norm in the area.
Ms Turnbull added that “increasingly progressive areas like Rangiora offered very affordable alternatives for city purchasers to obtain fantastic ‘value for money’ and lifestyle options within reasonable proximity of both rural and city centres”.
The well-attended successful auction was held on Wednesday 28 February by New Zealand’s Number One Auctioneer and National Auction Manager of Harcourts, Phil McGoldrick.
