Bank of New Zealand Identifies Billing Error

Most Customers to Receive <$1.00

A number of personal and business customers at Bank of New Zealand have been overcharged in relation to four Internet banking transaction types.

“All affected customers will be fully compensated, with the majority of customers likely to receive refunds of less than $1.00,” says Bank of New Zealand general manager marketing, Shona Bishop.

”We are sorry for this mistake and apologise to customers for the inconvenience and assure them we are fixing the issue as quickly as possible.”

Bank of New Zealand will be contacting all customers who have completed the following types of Internet banking payments:
• Direct credits
• IRD payments
• One off payments to third party
• Same day cleared payments
within the next four weeks to confirm refunds.

Any customers who have any questions can call the contact centre on 0800 ASK BNZ (0800 275 269) or visit a local branch.
