Record number of exporters enter The ANZ Canterbury Export Awards 2007

In Export Year 07, exporters face the double challenges of overcoming the high Kiwi dollar and maintaining markets so far away from New Zealand. But this hasn’t stopped a record number of exporters from entering the The ANZ Canterbury Export Awards 2007.

Entrants range from innovative software producers to the distinctly Kiwi – an internet poi supplier – illustrating the vast talent in the Canterbury region. The awards celebrate the pioneering spirit of Canterbury exporters taking our region’s excellence to the world.

The five awards for excellence are The Solid Energy Canterbury Emerging Exporter of the Year Award, The Teleimage Export Service Provider Award, The TimeZoneOne Award for Creativity in Exporting, The Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Export Deal of the Year and The Skellerup Canterbury Exporter of the Year Award

Among the record number of companies entered are Emendo Ltd, healthcare software engineers; Eyris Pearls, cultured pearl producer; Particle Systems Ltd, business software producer; Rock Star Recipes Ltd, guitar education specialist; Shapeshifter Technology Ltd, maker of software for the apparel industry; Preston International NZ Ltd, producer of Cariboo children’s furniture; Concentrate Ltd, marketing and strategy consultancy; e2-media Ltd, web specialist; InFact Ltd, product design company; SLI Systmes Inc, provider of on-demand search services for internet and e-commerce sites; 4D Steel Detailing Ltd, steel detailing specialist; General Cable New Zealand Ltd, cable manufacturer; Hallifax, cosmetics and souvenir manufacturer; Home of Poi Ltd, internet poi, staff and fire-spinning resource and supplier of spinning equipment; HumanWare, producer of technology to assist the vision-impaired; Kingswood Skis, ski manufacturer; Particle Systems Ltd, business software producers; SPEDA, hardware and software manufacturer; and St Helena Wine Estate, winemaker.

The awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner on Thursday 28 June at the International Antarctic Centre. The winner of the The Solid Energy Canterbury Emerging Exporter of the Year Award will compete for The Export New Zealand Emerging Exporter of the Year gong to be presented at the 2007 New Zealand Export Awards in November.
