Smartpay Adds Latest Payment Solution To Wellington Combined Taxis

Auckland 26 April 2007 - SmartPay(NZX:SPY), New Zealand's leading point of sale and retail solutions supplier announced today that it has won a contract to supply the latest wireless payment technology to Wellington Combined Taxis.

Wellington Combined Taxi's is New Zealand's second biggest taxi company and the deal will see over 440 units being installed into the Capital's fleet.

Linc Burgess, CEO of SmartPay says that he is delighted with the deal with Wellington Combined Taxis which will see the rollout being implemented by its wholly owned subsidiary, Card Processing Services Ltd (CPSL) within a few weeks.

"This is real milestone deal for SmartPay and CPSL given the size of the order which is one of the largest we've done yet. The wireless payment terminals we are installing are based around the popular CPO3SCR pinpad which is specifically built for the taxi industry, and is also used in Australia and Singapore," says Burgess.

Burgess also says that the wireless pinpads and printers that will be installed into Wellington's Combined Taxi's feature a proven and compact design together with added user friendly features.

"The units feature a smaller and more robust design, plus software upgrades which will ultimately enhance use by both the driver and passenger - as we move into the future more and more added-value transactions will be able to be done from the units like the ones we're adding to Wellington Combined Taxi Fleet."

"Many of the existing terminals were about 8 years old. Wellington Combined Taxi's was looking for the latest POS technology, combined with ease of use, price and a good customer service network and the solution we found with CPSL and SmartPay made for an easy commercial decision to replace our entire fleet of over 440 vehicles."

Burgess also says that SmartPay will provide Wellington Combined Taxis with a total package in terms of functionality and reporting for the terminal transactions.

"The beauty of SmartPay is that we provide the front and back end as we also have a strong capability via CPSL as a hosting and transaction processing company. The SmartPay solution we are providing Wellington Combined Taxis will also future proof their fleet so that it will be easy for them to tack on added-value payment services and transaction processing that will become more common in the near future."
