April 26 Edition Of The BNZ Weekly Overview.

As we expected the Reserve Bank raised their cash rate to 7.75% this morning and by dropping their warning that they may raise the rate again have avoided giving the NZD an extra boost – though it still ended near US 74.7 cents this afternoon. Its now a case of waiting to see if the two rate rises will slow growth in the domestic economy. The risk is capacity problems remain with a survey this afternoon showing a rise in business pricing intentions after the March 8 rate rise!
