PR consultancies merge to create Trio Communications
Three of New Zealand’s senior public relations practitioners have merged their businesses to create Trio Communications Limited. They are Brenda Saunders, Maggie Kerrigan and Felicity Anderson who have established strong reputations for themselves in the industry, working in a variety of in-house and consultancy roles including running their own successful business in recent years.

Ms Saunders has worked in public relations, publishing, journalism, marketing and advertising in New Zealand and the United Kingdom during her 30-year career. She was General Manager of Communications and Community Consultation at the Auckland District Health Board for six years. More recently in her own practice she has provided counsel for the National Influenza Strategy Group, Ministry of Health and for a broad range of clients in a variety of sectors.
Ms Kerrigan has specialised in public relations since the early 1980s in New Zealand and internationally. She is experienced in a variety of industry sectors including tourism, airlines, manufacturing and design, economic and regional development, FMCG, energy, health, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. In her own business she has consulted for companies including Tourism Holdings Limited, NZ Windfarms, Click Clack, Virionyx and the American Chamber of Commerce.
Ms Anderson’s communications career spans university lecturing, journalism and public relations. Her media roles included Chief Reporter of The National Business Review and Business Producer of TVNZ’s former award-winning site nzoom.com. In her public relations practice she specialises in the financial sector. However, Ms Anderson has clients in international consulting, international commodity wholesale/retail, biofuels, technology, retailing and entertainment. Ms Anderson is the New Zealand consultant for Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office. She also operated her own import and retailing business for a period of time,
Trio Communications is based in Auckland and has national and international affiliations.
The three partners say the rapid growth of their businesses determined the merger and confirm a recruitment drive is underway for experienced public relations staff for their new company. They add that the power of three has already proven a winner with existing clients and several new accounts, which they will be in a position to announce shortly.
