ASB Bank Opening a Major Stepping Stone for Remarkables Park Town Centre
The official opening of Queenstown’s second ASB Bank at the Remarkables Park Town Centre today (April 30) is seen as another major milestone for Queenstown’s second large retail centre.
ASB Managing Director, Hugh Burrett said the new Bank demonstrated ASB’s confidence in Remarkables Park and the region, and was a “significant investment”. The Remarkables Park facility will comprise a full service retail branch incorporating a business and rural office.
ASB manager Donna Harpur-Swain, who will now manage both Queenstown and Remarkables Park branches said ASB had made a conscious decision to be the first full-service bank within the growing Remarkables Park centre.
“Over the past few years there have been so many businesses that have moved into Remarkables Park, Frankton Industrial Estate and Shotover Park it makes sound economic sense to be here to service them,” she said.
ASB expects the new Remarkables Park Branch to service not only the locals but also the wider region. To attract new business, ASB has created a customer friendly bank, incorporating the latest design and technology features, with easy access parking at the front door.
Remarkables Park director John Porter said he was delighted to welcome the ASB to the centre. They are a pivotal tenant along with appliance chain Noel Leeming, homewares retailer Smiths City, travel agents The Flight Centre and family hairdressers Remarkables Park Cutting Room, all in Remarkables Park’s newest building.
Mr Porter said it was interesting to note that ASB, Flight Centre and Remarkables Park Cutting Room all had other branches in downtown Queenstown, but saw the importance of having a strong presence at Remarkables Park.
“We’ve said all along that the long-term development of Remarkables Park is to provide Queenstown with a twin town centre,” Mr Porter said.
“Remarkables Park’s growing reputation as a major regional destination has underwritten its success in attracting more national and major South Island businesses to the centre.
“This benefits the whole district as it provides further business diversification, more local career opportunities and will reduce local traffic on the busy Frankton Road.”
ASB launched on Saturday with an opening party that attracted hundreds of local residents.
