Finalists chosen for ANZ Canterbury Export Awards 2007


The difficult task of narrowing down an excellent field of candidates is over and the finalists for the ANZ Canterbury Awards 2007 have been chosen.

Drawn from a record number of entries this year, the field for the five awards for excellence represents top Cantabrian exporters from software manufacturers and developers to the maker of flight training devices. The awards honour exporters' innovation and sheer determination to export during difficult times.

"We're delighted that we had a record number of applicants. And most exciting is they represent a huge range of interesting and enterprising things going on in Canterbury," said Kent France, vice-president of Export New Zealand Canterbury Region

"The judging panel recognised the innovation and sheer enterprise of the applicants in picking up ideas and doing something valuable with them."

Finalists for The Solid Energy Canterbury Emerging Exporter of the Year Award are
Eyris Pearls, cultured pearl producer; Particle Systems Ltd, business software producer; Rock Star Recipes Ltd, guitar education specialist; and Shapeshifter Technology Ltd, maker of software for the apparel industry.

The Teleimage Export Service Provider Award finalists are e2-media Ltd, web specialist; InFact Ltd, product design company; and SLI Systems Inc, provider of on-demand search services for internet and e-commerce sites.

The Lyttelton Port of Christchurch Export Deal of the Year winner will be chosen among Hallifax, cosmetics and souvenir manufacturer; HumanWare, producer of technology to assist the vision-impaired; and Flight Experience, manufacturer of flight training devices.

General Cable New Zealand Ltd, cable manufacturer; 4D Steel Detailing Ltd, steel detailing specialist; and HumanWare are seeking The Skellerup Canterbury Exporter of the Year Award

All finalists are eligible for the The TimeZoneOne Award for Creativity in Exporting.

The awards will be presented at a Gala Dinner on Thursday 28 June at the International Antarctic Centre. The winner of the The Solid Energy Canterbury Emerging Exporter of the Year Award will compete for The Export New Zealand Emerging Exporter of the Year honour to be presented at the 2007 New Zealand Export Awards in November.
This year is Export Year 07 and Export New Zealand Canterbury Region is proud to have such excellent finalists representing the best of New Zealand to the rest of the world.
