Barkers Store opens in Invercargill
Barkers Clothing Ltd is opening their first store in Invercargill on Thursday 17th May. The new store will be located at 74 Esk Street in central Invercargill.
With 34 years history in New Zealand Barkers is considered an iconic brand and one of the top male retail brands in the country. This is the 20th Barkers Store to open in New Zealand, and the fifth store to open in the South Island with three in Christchurch and one in Dunedin.
“We are really excited about opening our
Invercargill store”, says Zac De Silva, Managing Director
Barkers Clothing Ltd.
“It is part of an integrated
business strategy to give New Zealanders greater access to
the Barkers brand.”
De Silva plans to roll out stores
in Nelson, Queenstown and various North island locations
over the next 12-18 months.
The new Barkers Store provides Southland consumers with a fresh face of the Barkers brand, showcasing a broad range of new winter products and enhancing the total brand communication at store level.
“This store offers the consumer a totally new experience – one that is fresh, contemporary and masculine. The new store fit-out exudes style, from the polished stone flooring to the panelled feature wall. All of this is designed to enhance the consumer’s shopping experience,” says De Silva.
Barkers embarked on a new brand campaign earlier this year which features real life, aspirational New Zealand men who represent the essence of the Barkers brand. Shot by leading NZ fashion photographer, Stephen Langdon, the look is clean and modern with a gritty, authentic undertone.
Local Invercargill resident, Gianni-Rose Hamilton, is the Manager of the new store. Gianni-Rose has a wealth of experience having worked in retail for most of her career.
The Invercargill Barkers store will showcase product from the Winter 07 range which is designed and produced exclusively by Barkers. It is less overtly branded, more refined and design focussed.
“Some of the highlights are the top selling Military Peacoat, a favourite for those cold winter days and the Sherpa Hoodie, a casual staple that will be popular with the Southland man,” says Hamilton.
Southland consumers will
now be able to participate in the Barkers VIP club and enjoy
all the privileges of membership including 10% discount on
every purchase
made.
