Water Saving And Energy Conservation Top Of Mind For Showering Design And Technology
Auckland,
New Zealand – 22 May 2007. Just as energy saving and
conservation awareness is heightening among New Zealand
consumers, so too does leading shower and tapware company
Methven place conservation top of mind when it comes to
their design process.
Methven New Zealand CEO, Rick Fala says that “Methven has for decades been employing new technologies in its design and manufacturing processes to create a luxurious showering experience that maximises water and energy savings without compromising performance and aesthetic appeal. With water being recognised as one of New Zealand’s most precious resources, it is imperative that we do what we can to preserve it.”
Recognised internationally for best design and sustainable practices, Methven has long held water and energy considerations at front of mind throughout the design and manufacturing process. “Considering environmental issues from the outset offers a much better long-term solution than simply modifying existing products,” Kent Sneddon, Methven Head of Design, says.
This is best demonstrated by the Satinjet range where unique Twin-jet technology transforms an ordinary shower into a luxurious yet environmentally sound experience, delivering a saving of up to 40% on water and energy usage; a reduction in hot water usage also means reduced CO2 emissions.
Satinjet showers have received awards from multiple international institutions, including the prestigious Good Design Award 2005 from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
Australia has the Water Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme, which provides information to the consumer in terms of a five star rating system relating to water flow rate. Although not here yet, New Zealand is looking to bring in the WELS system regulations from 01 December 2007 and Methven is a participating industry partner and is working closely with Ministry for Environment to develop this. Because Methven is well-versed in products that are WELS compliant in the Australian market, they are equipped to bring New Zealand consumers in line with their water and energy saving ethos.
