BNZ Monthly Confidence Survey Results (June 2007)

Attached is our monthly survey of the confidence of Weekly Overview readers taken immediately after the Reserve Bank raised the official cash rate last week has revealed a jump in pessimism about the economy's prospects over the coming 12 months

A net 53% of respondents expect the economy to get worse over the coming year compared with a net 30% in May and net 1% optimism in February. The result suggests a deteriorating outlook for the economy over the coming year despite the recent easing of fiscal policy and increase in Fonterra’s projected payout for the coming season.
