Orewa Auctioneer Makes Harcourts History
Sabine Davison, Branch Manager and now auctioneer at Harcourts Orewa made history recently when she became the first woman to take home a Harcourts New Zealand's national auction award by winning the Novice category of Harcourts' Annual Auction Championships 2007.
Competing against 11 other novices at Harcourts' Conference last month, the Auctioneers' Competition also included a Senior category with 14 competing and was won by Luke Jansen of Harcourts Kilbirnie.
Ms Davison's next competition is in the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) Championships in July. She said auctions became her preference for marketing property after joining Harcourts in 2001. She began in real estate sales 2000 aged 29 from being a "stay at home Mum" with an admin/IT background.
Quick to take up training opportunities, Ms Davison completed her six AREINZ industry qualification papers through the Harcourts Academy/Massey University programme in an incredible 12 months while the youngest of her four sons was a pre-schooler.
She then completed her two final Diploma papers the following year, and in 2005 was recognised as New Zealand's second top student in Massey University's Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (endorsed in real estate).
Having run numerous auction campaigns during her sales career, Ms Davison competed in Harcourts' novice competition last year and achieved a 'Highly Commended'. She then competed in the REINZ Novice Championships.
In late 2006, as Manager of Harcourts Orewa, Ms Davison saw the office achieve an all time sales record for the month of December, beating their old record by over $2 million.
CEO of Harcourts New Zealand (and past New Zealand auction representative) Bryan Thomson, said, "Auctioneering is a demanding profession where you are examined on your performance in the most public arena. Success requires skill, commitment and passion to ensure you are at your best every time you pick up the auction hammer. With Sabine Davison's commitment, focus and dedication to working at the highest standard, we look forward to supporting her career as an exceptional Harcourts Auctioneer."
