Christchurch Airport Launches Wireless Internet
Christchurch International Airport Ltd has introduced a high-speed wireless internet service for visitors to the airport. Travellers can now connect to the web in both the domestic and international terminals using a laptop, personal digital assistant or other device which is WiFi compatible.
The wireless service enables airport visitors to access their emails and surf the web while at the airport. "The launch of wireless technology at Christchurch Airport is in recognition of the growing need for people to remain accessible to the internet while travelling, particularly the business traveller, who is becoming increasingly reliant on WiFi technology," says CIAL's Chief Executive Rene Bakx. "The latest wireless technology has been installed to ensure high speed internet access for those using their WiFi compatible device in the terminal building."
Weather, flight and tourism information will be freely accessible to airport visitors that have a wireless-capable device, and a fifteen minute free access card will be given to those that make a purchase from one of the designated airport retail stores. Full access can be obtained online with a credit card or by purchasing a scratch card with a unique user name and password from a retail outlet located within the airport.
