Asian Incentive Business in Spotlight

PRESS RELEASE

Asian Incentive Business in Spotlight

Seminar discusses how to attract more Asian business

19 July 2007, Auckland: Exactly what it takes to lure more Asian incentive business to New Zealand will come under the spotlight at MEETINGS 2007 in Auckland next week.

The Tourism New Zealand run seminar is part of the two-day trade show and will cover trends in the Asian market, what they are looking for in an incentive destination and how local operators can attract more Asian business here.

“New Zealand is now a mature incentive destination for the global market and Asia is one region in particular that we would like to attract here in bigger numbers,” says Alan Trotter, Conventions & Incentives New Zealand (CINZ), CEO. “This seminar is part of our ongoing marketing strategy to attract more international conference and incentive business to New Zealand.”

MEETINGS 2007 features New Zealand’s finest hotels, conference and meeting venues, caterers and activity and service providers and is on at the SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre on July 25 and 26. This year as well as hosted buyers from throughout New Zealand and Australia, there will be buyers from the United States, China, India and Thailand.

“The show offers the perfect opportunity to showcase the best of what New Zealand has to offer all under one roof, to not only the local market but also overseas buyers,” Mr Trotter says.
The convention and incentive industry injects more than $1 billion dollars a year into the New Zealand economy and more than $25 million worth of business is expected to be booked over the two-day show.
