This is the first of what we intend will become a series of thought/opinion-piece articles under the format "All things considered … On XYZ". The intention is to raise awareness and promote debate on topical issues with the economy, financial markets, and the savings industry, etc.

This note, and likely future notes, are deliberately “full” (read long-ish) so the nuances that may be useful contributions to the wider debate can be developed. However, the natural offset to that depth is that the notes are likely to be occasional and irregular, given that topical issues only tend to materialise in that way. And we’ve also provided an executive summary for the time-constrained.
