Jetstar Extends Low Fares Guarantee

Jetstar extends low fares guarantee across international route network

Low fares airline Jetstar has reaffirmed its low fares leadership across its domestic and international network – by offering the lowest web fares against any direct competitor airline at Jetstar.com or the customer gets a voucher for double the difference - guaranteed!

Jetstar's "Double the Difference Voucher Guarantee", introduced in May 2007 to its Australian domestic operations spanning twenty destinations, will now deliver greater choice for international travellers to obtain the lowest possible web fare on both Jetstar international long haul and short routes.

The initiative is good news for New Zealanders, who can take advantage of Jetstar's price guarantee on the airline's direct services from Christchurch to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Jetstar operates minimum daily return trans Tasman flights directly between Christchurch and Sydney (10 times weekly), Melbourne (9 times weekly), daily to Brisbane (7 times weekly) and a twice-weekly return service to the Gold Coast.

The new innovative low fares initiatives for Jetstar international services and its ongoing extension to Jetstar domestic flights was launched by Chief Executive Officer Alan Joyce to the 2007 Asia Pacific Aviation Summit in Sydney.

From 25 July 2007 Jetstar will apply its competitive online fare pricing guarantee for Jetstar long haul international flights against competitors directly operating the same long haul international city pair on the same day of travel.

This includes Jetstar's existing A330-200 services now operating between either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to 6 overseas destinations including Bangkok, Phuket, Ho Chi Minh City, Denpasar (Bali), Honolulu and Osaka.

Future Jetstar international operations between Cairns-Nagoya

* (from 2 August 2007), Cairns-Osaka, * (from 8 September 2007) and Sydney-Kuala Lumpur, *(from 9 September 2007) are also part of Jetstar's Voucher Guarantee. (*Flights subject to regulatory approval).

Jetstar's Double the Difference Voucher Guarantee will also operate at Jetstar.com on the value based carrier's short haul international flights operated by A320s, including its direct trans Tasman services from Christchurch to four Australian cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast) and daily Singapore-Darwin-Cairns international service.

The same terms and conditions for the Voucher Guarantee will apply to Jetstar's short haul A320 international operations as does its Australian domestic flights and competitors – comparing web fares for other airline operations for direct flights on the exact route departing and arriving at the same airports as the applicable Jetstar flight, scheduled to depart within one hour of that Jetstar flight.

Mr Joyce said any customer who finds a lower fare online for a domestic or short haul international flight on the same city pair (eg Sydney – Gold Coast, Melbourne-Christchurch), when compared with an available Jetsaver fare, the airline will double the difference in a voucher, when the Jetstar fare is purchased.

"For over three years Jetstar has been committed to offering the lowest domestic fares. From the consumers perspective this is now enshrined across our fast growing international operations – in both short and long haul markets to and from Australia," Mr Joyce said.

In a detailed presentation Mr Joyce also outlined to the Summit:

* Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics (BTRE) international passenger data for April 2007 had identified Jetstar as the fastest growing international airline operating to and from Australia, underpinned by the carrier's successful introduction of value based long haul international operations from November 2006;

* Completion of the financial agreement between the Qantas Group and Vietnam's second carrier Pacific Airlines for a 30 per cent shareholding remained to timetable – representing a future franchise opportunity for Jetstar;

* Additional domestic capacity announced for key Jetstar markets including Newcastle, Cairns and the Gold Coast;

* Establishment of online home check-in prior to the end of 2007 calendar year..

Mr Joyce said Jetstar had now achieved 4.4 per cent international market share (at April 2007) and over 15 per cent domestic share in the Australian aviation market. The Qantas Group's international market share position for Australian international air services is now 32 per cent.

"The Qantas Group's future two brand growth strategy which will see Jetstar be the first Group airline to take delivery of the Boeing 787 in 2008 for Jetstar's growing international operations. Our future wide body fleet will help entrench and we believe grow the market position of both Jetstar's and the wider Group over time," Mr Joyce said.

Customers in Australia through Jetstar's Voucher Guarantee who believe they have sourced a lower web fare must contact Jetstar Reservations on 0800 800 995 and if the airline can verify the availability of the lower fare, buy our fare and Jetstar will double the difference in Jetstar vouchers.

The Jetstar "Double the Difference" Voucher Guarantee can only be used when identifying a lower online fare prior to booking. Claims cannot be made after a booking has taken place.

Vouchers are valid for six months from the date of issue.A voucher for each passenger will be emailed within 31 days to the person who makes the payment for the Jetsaver booking. Normal telephone booking fees will not apply to bookings made under this offer.
