Entries Up For 2007 Hirepool Construction Awards
Record number of entries for 2007 Hirepool Construction Awards
A record 21 entries, two more than last year, have been received for the 2007 Hirepool Construction Awards.
The awards, open to all members of the New Zealand Contractors' Federation, cover a range of major civil engineering, construction and general contracting projects over the last 12 months.
The Hirepool Construction Awards cover four categories, starting with projects valued at less than $500,000 going up to Category Four for projects with a value exceeding $10million.
New Zealand Contractors' Federation Executive Officer, Malcolm Abernethy says, "we are pleased to see that the increase of major construction projects around the country, driven by Government initiatives, has lead to continued growth and stability within the industry, and this is reflected in the increased entries."
The projects entered in the awards, now in their 29th year, are judged on such key aspects as their professionalism, construction methods, customer relations, human resources, teamwork, partnering, planning and control, quality control, financial controls, location and logistics, site control and risk.
According to Hirepool Managing Director, Tenby Powell, the awards "reflect the outstanding service industry members contribute to this country's continued growth. We are greatly encouraged by the increased entries this year and congratulate all finalists and those in the industry for the part they play in developing New Zealand."
The civil contracting industry provides and maintains the country's infrastructure of public services - including energy, transport and telecommunications. The Contractors' Federation is the national organisation of the industry. This year's Hirepool Construction Awards will be presented at the NZCF annual conference in Rotorua on Saturday 04 August.
