BNZ Weekly Overview, 2 August 2007
Welcome to the August 2 edition of the BNZ Weekly Overview.
This week we are once again running our monthly survey of confidence. If time permits please click on the URL below and let us know whether you believe the economy will get better or worse over the coming year. More importantly if time permits pen a few words on how things are in your industry at the moment. The results will be released early next week.

Wholesale interest rates are barely changed from a week ago but the Kiwi dollar has fallen strongly mainly in response to foreign investors getting scared about the world markets and taking some of their money home - principally back into Japanese yen. Where we go from here depends very much on what happens in the United States sub-prime mortgage market and whether troubles there spread further.
