Metro hires ex-Cuisine editor Simon Wilson
Metro magazine today announced that Simon Wilson, a former editor of Cuisine magazine and, previously, Consumer, will join the writing staff of Metro. Metro’s Assistant Editor Bevan Rapson says Wilson’s experience and writing talents are a great fit for the magazine: “Simon’s experience of hard-nosed investigations at Consumer and the food and hospitality world at Cuisine make him a particularly valuable addition to our team.”
Simon Wilson edited Consumer for 12 years until 2003 and was editor of Cuisine between 2004 and 2006. During his tenure the magazine won the Best News-stand magazine at the Qantas Awards (2005) and a Gold Award at the Gourmet Voice World Media Awards in France (2006). Since leaving Cuisine he has been a regular contributor to Metro, and contributed a feature profile on John Banks in the current issue. Wilson, who will be a Senior Writer at the magazine, says he is looking forward to joining the Metro team.
"Metro's traditions of good investigative journalism and cutting edge social commentary have long made it one of the best magazines in the country," he says. "My role will allow me to combine my interests and experience in current affairs journalism and food writing, and I'm very excited about that."
He takes up the role immediately.
