Kaynemaile nominated for the ‘prize of prizes’
New Zealand niche manufacturing company Kaynemaile Limited today announced that its ground-breaking 3D polycarbonate mesh has been nominated for the Designpreis 2008, the Federal Republic of Germany’s official design award. The exclusive award, known as the ‘prize of prizes’, recognises excellence in design and is Kaynemaile’s second nomination for a major international design award, following its success in the iF Material Award in April this year.
“The iF Material Award recognised our 3D mesh as a truly innovative, world-class product. To be nominated for a second award of this calibre further confirms this, and provides another valuable endorsement of Kaynemaile for our global market,”said Kayne Horsham, CEO and inventor of Kaynemaile’s mesh and patented technology.
Using a revolutionary new approach to injection moulding, Kaynemaile produces a unique 3D polycarbonate mesh that offers innovative aesthetic and functional solutions for the architectural and interior design sectors. Its fully automated production process means that Kaynemaile’s mesh has no individual joins, and can be produced seamlessly to unlimited dimensions.
The Designpreis 2008 is the only official design award in Germany, and is considered to be the country’s highest distinction in the field of design. To be eligible to participate in the Award, companies must be nominated by the Ministries and Senators for Trade & Industry of the German States, or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. As a precondition to being nominated, a product must also already have won a national or international award.
Kaynemaile’s nomination for the Award comes in a year of major milestones for the business.
“2007 has been a landmark year for Kaynemaile. After extensive product development and testing we have commenced production of our signature 3D mesh, established major international distribution agreements and completed our first commercial installations. For Kaynemaile’s mesh to receive widespread international recognition in addition to these achievements is very rewarding,” said Mr. Horsham.
The winners of the Designpreis 2008 will be announced by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in early 2008.
